The Beauty of the Cherry Blossoms

The most popular of all flowers of Japan are the cherry blossoms.  For more than a thousand years cherry blossoms have been adored by the Japanese culture.  Happily you do not have to travel to Japan to view these marvelous flowers since there are over 300 varieties and can be located right here in the United States found on the cherry tree.  The delicate flowers come in a variety of colors ranging from crimson, soft pink and white have been symbolized as simplicity and purity. The sight of these flowers in full bloom is breath taking.

Lifespan of Cherry Blossoms

Sadly, the delicate petals of these flowers do not last long.  They can even have a shorter lifespan due to weather conditions. At the most they only last two to three days. Although this in itself may seem sad it is actually one of the most beautiful breathtaking sights an individual could experience. With a burst of wind you will see the falling petals in a dramatic display the Japanese call sakura fubuki which means cherry blossom blizzard. The ground beneath is a picture of beauty with its delicate blanket of petals.  No wonder why so many flock to see it.

Cherry Blossoms are a Big Part of Japanese Culture

These blossoms bloom during the month of January in southern Japan and continues northbound until approximately the end of May. News media and radio broadcasts often follow the progress of this movement which is known as the cherry blossom front.  The cherry blossom news updates and announcements reminders make many viewers want to travel and see this marvelous occasion.

The cherry tree to the Japanese is purely for its flowers and beauty and it is a big part of Japanese culture. Many appreciate the beauty of the cherry blossoms but we have also come to enjoy the other forms of use from the cherry tree as well. The wood which creates beautiful furniture and carvings which many desire in there homes. Or the tasteful fruit it yields either fresh or in desserts and for great wines.
