Comic Con Can’t Be Contained

Over the years Comic Con has grown from a nerdy convention to a must-attend event for all. This popularity can be mainly attributed to the success of film adaptations of comic books. People all over the world are falling in love with super-powered humans in spandex all over again. Even Hollywood is spreading their love and vision of our favorite heroes by bringing in top celebrities to announce their new projects based on comic books to all the fans in Comic Con. This gathering has grown so large it would give the most hardened geek a ‘nerdgasm’. The Pulse of Las Vegas wrote an article about how San Diego can no longer contain the goliath that is Comic Con and how it is best suited to be a Las Vegas event. They even stated that the three top waterfront hotels in San Diego will combine their spaces to help host the event in order for it to stay in the city it was born in.

The Fans Are At Arms-Length

Once the ticket registration opens for Comic Con, the chaos immediately begins. Every year the fans try to get their hands on the tickets the first time it gets available, there is always a crash. So many fans try to acquire their tickets that the website can’t handle the massive traffic it encounters. When they first enabled registration this year on November 1st, it crashed moments later. It was then reopened a few weeks later and it was the same story all over again. Only a lucky few were able to get tickets, before the system crashed and burned. As of now, the ticket system is unavailable. Although the fans are furious, they will still leap at the chance to acquire a ticket no matter how it’s made available. Epic Registration is the company, which handles the ticket affairs and they are hard at work, tending to this problem. How they will deal with such a massive force of fans has still yet to be seen. All that is known is that Comic Con has grown up to be such a success that even its creators are having a hard time controlling it. All we can do is pray that they can hold on to the reins and put this bronco in control.

Millions of people suffer from food poisoning every day. Most people dismiss food poisoning as just a stomach ache accompanied with diarrhea. They believe they will get over it within a day or two. A website known as emedicinehealth stated that about 76 million people suffer from food poisoning a year, and over 5,000 of these people die. These numbers are just an estimate because most people do not check into the hospital for food poisoning. They view it as a mild sickness. With the death rates rising, is it truly worth the gamble when you decide not to see the doctor?

There are many types of bacteria found in our meals. Some of them get taken care of by our immune system, but most of them cause us to fall into an illness where we end up praying for death. That wish is even granted for some. The WebMD wrote an article stating, that some of the most common diseases are infections caused by bacteria, causing fever accompanied by vomiting and diarrhea. Salmonella is the most commonly encountered culprit because it can be found in improperly cooked meats. It causes Reiter’s syndrome, which is accompanied by arthritis and dysuria (painful urination). Most diseases acquired from pathogenic organisms in food and meals are fatal to children and the elderly, but deadliest of these illnesses for all ages is botulism. It can cause disrupted vision, slow speech, and even weakness. If you do not seek medical attention, it can cause paralysis in many parts of the body including the lungs. Since most people don’t seek medical attention for food poisoning, you can see why this can be a silent killer. We may be large creatures, but even the largest creatures are not impervious to the attacks of microscopic bacteria. That is why when you are afflicted with food poisoning, you must seek medical help or it could be the last meal of your life.

Generally, people have their own taste in music. It may vary depending on social context, age, and culture. In prehistoric times, they use bones, stones, leaves and wood to create their music. From most isolated tribal groups to royalties, music was their form of entertainment. It is an ancestral constituent of human life. The evolution of musical forms was passed on from generation to generation and people became even more fascinated by each radical change. Today, hard-core music fans no longer bring bulky radios to play songs, or keep piles of cassette tapes and CDs in shelves. Portable music devices made it possible to store a whole collection of music in your pocket. In the computer age, there was an enormous improvement in the production of music. It continued to offer more capabilities to access the music of your choice. Technology research firms continued to accelerate easier access to a music library through the internet. Maybe in the next decade, music technology will enable us to keep millions of songs in the palm of our hands and in voice control commands.

In the primitive times humans lived in caves, rubbed stones to create fire, hunted for daily food and traveled for miles barefoot. People were mainly focused on survival from forces of nature and beasts surrounding them. The primitive man had suffered from ignorance in their hunter-gatherer lifestyle. This situation is far from the modern convenience that we are enjoying today. People before who would think about the computer capabilities now, would be considered nuts.

The Era of Modernization

In recent years modern man’s inventions, capable of performing a variety of tasks, marvelled people. Technology satisfied the requirements to raise the standard of living of people. It constantly seems to seep its way into giving us ideas that we haven’t thought of in the past. Technology has expanded the mental horizon of people. It gives us larger possibilities to extract the potential of resources and help us evolve. This progression touched all spheres of society. This modern era has brought an entirely new type of culture and civilization. The intention of each inventor is to help people enjoy each human activity, making the world a better place.

A Glitch in the System

Two or more people before died, killed by wild animals. However, the modern beast now – a single atomic bomb, could kill thousands of people. People have discovered advances in medical science like x-rays to view the internal organs and detect illnesses but still there are more deadly diseases now than before. We have modern tools to keep our surroundings clean, yet we people are dying of pollution. Technology has brought about the degradation of our environment. We have discovered modern fertilizers that can grow more food for a rapidly growing population. We no longer hunt in the wild for food but millions of children are still dying from hunger. As powerful machines increase its complexities so does the economic field, exacerbating the problems of the poor. Knowing the advantages and disadvantages of technology makes us wonder if we are living better than our ancestors did.
