Your good memories can help you create more

photos for memories

Taking a trip down memory lane regularly helps keep you focused on the good things in life.  This is a recommended method for creating even more of those.  You have already created good memories and staying in touch with them is the key.  We forget the good memories as we labor through the daily grind of living. Here are a few tips to keep the  good memories in a place.  This  fun and easy project will keep you connected and keep your mood up and continue the cycle of creating more good things.

Things you will need

All you need is your computer, a scanner and your boxes of photos (or maybe you already got them into an album that you never look at).  If you don’t already have a scanner they can be purchased very inexpensively at an office supply store.  They get outdated quickly even though they still work great for this.  I once picked up a brand new printer/copier/scanner/fax for only $40!

Start loading the photos onto your computer.   As you are saving them make sure you put them all into the main file labeled “My Pictures” or “Pictures”.  Once there you can start organizing them into sub-files that you label.  That is just a drag and drop job.  Remember  to create a backup.   Now comes the really fun part.  Go to Smilebox, Hallmark or any other online card making site, create an “I love you” or “thinking about you” e-card or print card using those old photos  Your family and friends will love the trip down memory lane as well.   You are helping others to stay in touch with their good memories along with you!

Screen-saver option

The other step that will keep you seeing those photos daily and remembering those good times regularly is to use the photo screen-saver option.  This is easy and scrolls through every photo and video in the file you tell it (this is why you want them all in one major file).  As you are going about your day you are reminded of those wonderful memories keeping your mood up and ensuring that you always stay in touch with the wonderful memories you have already created.

There are so many books to help you in your efforts to lose weight.  But those of us who have not conquered the battle and still are carrying around too much weight we are still reading and wanting to know new ways or hear what others have tried and what worked for them.  Until you find what works you will keep searching and hoping that one will come along that does the trick.

Some Basic Guidelines

Some of the basic guidelines that have been helpful if followed really can make a difference in your overall weight and in the process in your health as well.  Some suggestions  you might try are eating the right kind of food at the right time, the right amount and to include exercise at least 3 times a week for a half hour.  It can even be just walking at a brisk pace.  It does not have to be extensive and hard.  If you cut out bread, pasta, and especially sugar you will be seeing the benefits.

Plenty of good vegetables, fruits and good sources of protein will keep you satisfied and seeing the scale numbers dropping will make you happy.  If you are a regular alcohol consumer you will need to cut back on this and if you are one who cannot stop with just one and needs food with it you may want to cut it out altogether.  It is worth it. Once you have reached your goal weight you can have it again in moderation.

The Effects of Being Overweight

Being overweight has many effects.  Heart attacks, diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol just to name a few.  Learning how to eat better foods and exercise can make these health issues less risky.  You can find some good teas that will help which have aided in weight loss and have health benefits too.

Do not eat after 7:00 pm and refrain from snacks in the evening.  Take note of what sabotages your own diet.  Make a list of what foods trigger certain reactions or cravings and avoid those at all cost. At first you may not like the things you are replacing but in time you will love them even more than the ones you use to crave.  Once you eat healthier and see the happy results you will think healthier. This is where it begins in your head.

Is Home Schooling Right For You?

Home Schooling is an ever growing popularity these days.  There are many reasons why some parents may choose to home school their children now than in the past.  It is becoming a favorable option and is a growing trend.  At one time homeschooling was the only education our forefathers got.  Commonly, when children did start their education it was around twelve years or older!  Famous persons, such as Thomas Edison, George Washington, Albert Einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson  were educated at home.  The law for school attendance was not established until the 19th century.

Some Reasons Why Parents Opt for Home Schooling

Anywhere from 50 to 90 percent of parents in the U.S do so because of religion.  Many opt for it out of  protection reasons because many feel that schools have atheistic influences and it is no wonder with some of the recent changes that have taken place recently. Many feel that where once God was allowed to be talked about along with religion is now outlawed and ignored.  They are also concerned with the breakdown of morals and influences of peers that can expose them to things at an early age.  Some also are afraid of to have them attend a school because of the shootings that take place and feel they are safer at home.

Parents Can Teach Adequately

Their is evidence that shows that home schoolers pull grades equally or above the standard school test. This does not however, prove that is is better for them.  There is no way to really prove this evidence without proper research.  With that in mind some school districts can be uncooperative and skeptical.

Some feel that parents may not be capable to adequately teach from home.  Parents do not need to have college degree levels to teach as there are a number of research tools and sources.  There are private tutors that can be hired that can help in any area you feel would be explained better than what you can give.

Consider the Cost of Home Schooling

To answer the question on if home schooling is right for you or not depends on your willingness, cooperation, patience and individual circumstances.  It takes a strong commitment by both you as parents and by the children to make it beneficial.  It can be done. Make sure that you find out the home schooling regulations in your area because they vary in each state. You still will need to consider how much it cost to home school for teaching materials, tests and other things you will need each year.
